We made it back....
Yesterday, we had to make a trip out west. It happend to be the same day a Winter Storm hit. The Weather Gypsies were predicting anywhere from 4" to 9" for our area.
It wasn't supposed to have the ice go with it like the last time, but there was supposed to be a little sleet. It ended up that we couldn't leave until 1:00 in the afternoon.
The first 60 miles of the trip was uneventful.
The last 100 miles was a little harrowing.
The Interstate (I-80) was covered with a thin layer of ice. Under the overpasses was even worse. Our average speed was 45 mph. We just took our time and let the loonies go by. We finally got there at about 5 pm - just in time for supper!
We had originally planned on heading back home by noon, but our plans were changed and we didn't get out of town until 2:45. The return trip was MUCH nicer then the trip out! The highways were clear, clean, and dry! We were home again by 5 pm.
We found that the snow total was about 4", so it wasn't too bad.
