Ya Buy 'Em Books....
I've been spending a lot of time in the past few days, working on the fence and gates for the new "Heifer Pen". I know, I know - old news....
Since the "pen" is ready, I have to do "finish" work on a few things. One of those things happened to be the latch on the big wooden gate I built. I hadn't had time to build a latch so I improvised with this "Hillbilly Gate Latch":
Now, since it works rather well, I considered leaving it, but then again, I MIGHT need that log chain sometime in the future. Another good thing about leaving it there, I'd always know where it was...
After much, deep, pondering, thought, I decided that the best idea was to build something that worked a little better.
So this morning, I grabbed an old piece of 1x8, and cut it down to size. I even spent a while planing it down, and getting it to look real nice - oh, and work good, too.
Here is what I came up with:
All was well and good in the universe. I was happy with the outcome. Little did I know that things were just about to change.
All those nice tasty leaves, grass, and weeds out there for the taking - and what does Little Miss Rosie decide to start chewing on?
MY NEW GATE LATCH!
I had the thing all nice and smooth - planed down to perfection. Then she has to go and get her "cud" marks all over it. She wasn't a BIT apologetic about it either!
Just look at that smile on her face! I'd be willing to bet that she did it just BECAUSE she knew she shouldn't!
One thing is for sure, she sure is happy about something.
Another thing is for sure....
I'm changing her name to "Bar-B-Q".....
Ha, ha, ha! Too funny! What a cutie!
